Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job
Deliver cleaning services to the Institutes and NBIP areas on the NBI site.
Key Relationships
Responsible to institute representatives for day to day performance and accountable to the Soft Services Team Leader
Main Activities & Responsibilities
- Clean, stock and supply designated facility areas (dusting, sweeping, vacuuming, mopping, cleaning ceiling vents, restroom cleaning etc)
- Ensure cleaning is carried out to a consistently high standard and meets Service Level Agreements
- Empty waste bins or similar receptacles, transporting waste material to designated collection points
- Replenish consumable items (soap, toilet rolls, paper towels) as required
- Perform and document routine inspection and maintenance activities
- Carry out heavy cleaning tasks and special projects
- Use chemical agents as directed by the Supervisor in the discharge of cleaning operations or maintenance procedures, after receiving proper instructions and training
- Notify management of occurring deficiencies or needs for repairs
- Follow all health and safety regulations
- As agreed with the line manager, any other duties commensurate with the nature of the post.

he Norwich BioScience Institutes Partnership (NBIP) has an exciting opportunity for two Cleaners (0.54 FTE) to join their busy Facilities department.
Background:

The Facilities Department provides unique Facilities Management Services to the John Innes Institute, the Sainsbury Laboratories and the Earlham Institute. The role:
To undertake general cleaning duties quickly, efficiently and in a safe manner, within a variety of assigned areas ranging from offices, conference facilities and laboratories in accordance with the various service level agreements of the various clients served.
The ideal candidate:
The ideal candidate for this role will have previous relevant work experience as a Cleaner or Housekeeper. Competency in health and safety matters as they relate to the provision of cleaning services is essential, as are excellent interpersonal and customer service skills. Excellent time management skills are essential, as is the ability to work on own initiative and the ability to prioritise to meet the demands of the role.
Our Cleaners typically start at 5am or 6am Monday to Friday, so the ability to start at that time is an essential requirement to this post. Some flexibility around those hours, i.e. extending working hours on occasion will also be required.
Due to the demands of the role, it is essential for the ideal candidate to be able to handle potentially heavy or awkward cleaning equipment and machinery, and stand/walk for long periods of time (reasonable adjustments will be considered for applicants with a disability).
Additional information:
Salary on appointment will be £9,880 (£18,278 FTE). There are 2 permanent, part-time posts of 20 hours per week, with core hours of either 5am - 9am or 6am - 10am Monday to Friday.
