Job Description
Main Purpose of the Job
The Information Systems & Application Development Manager will deliver the systems analysis, ongoing support and development and implementation of both in- house and commercial applications.
Management and development of NBI's Data warehouse based on Microsoft SQL server.
Coding applications.
Key Relationships
The post holder will lead a small team and interact with key stakeholders across other support departments as well as customers within the Scientific Institutes. There will be a requirement to work with software suppliers during system implementations, system upgrades and issue resolution.

The NBI Partnership provides non-scientific services to the John Innes Centre (JIC), Quadram Institute Bioscience (QIB), Earlham Institute (EI) and The Sainsbury Laboratory (TSL). The NBI Partnership has an exciting opportunity for an experienced Manager to join our Computing and Information Services Department, providing dynamic IT and systems support to our internationally renowned research organisations.
Background
The Norwich Bioscience Institutes are a cluster of research organisations, working to tackle major challenges of the 21st Century – the sustainability of our environment, our food supplies and healthy ageing.

The role
This varied role is a key part of our service delivery. Leading our Information Systems & Applications Development Team, the role and will interact with stakeholders across the NBIP departments, software suppliers and our customers within the Scientific Institutes. The role will ensure the team delivers on coding applications, supporting and implementing systems, data analysis, empowering our users and providing them with ongoing support.
The ideal candidate
The ideal candidate will have experience in management of IT software development, management of developers, and be able to demonstrate significant experience in systems analysis, system implementation, database design and programming. You will have expertise in HTML, CSS, JavaScript/jQuery and Web application development. A knowledge of HR and Finance back – end business processes would be highly advantageous.
